Ian Keaveny – Artist
Ian Keaveny started painting in the late 1980s. Adding video as a medium since 2007.
‘My work from college until 2008 was mainly abstract. A position I came to reject in 2008 as being unsustainable, based on an examination of the relation between Art, economics and the need to communicate. I work from still life set-ups using collected objects which stand in for people, places and situations within my own life. I have been called a surrealist, and the world I inhabit does strike me as strange, I have always felt disconnected and my work reflects that, an attempt to break the world down to the simplest element that can be examined and understood, as a child plays with a toy.’
Ian Keaveny lives between Ireland and Wales.
